I would like to connect with others who have Hyrum McConnell b. abt 1803 in PA, married to Malinda or Margaret McCartney. They were parents of the following children; W.W. P, Mary who married a Mr. King, Helen who married a Mr. W.D. Finney, Margaret, Benjamin and Matilda. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at 4 O'clock at the Hewlett undertaking parlors, conducted by the Masonic fraternity, of which he was a member. Burial was in Nondaga Cemetery. Mr. McConnell was the son of Aaron and Sarah McConnell, pioneers of the town of Howard. He was born July 12, 1859. In this young manhood Mr. McConnell for a number of years was employed in the County Clerk's Office in Bath, after which he took a position in the Quartermaster's office at the Soldiers' Home. Later he was appointed and served for a number of years as Quartermaster. Mr. McConnell's hobby was horse racing and many years he was prominently identified with the sport throughout Western New York. He often served as a starter at the Steuben County races, as well as at races in other parts of the State. He was a vice-president of the Steuben County Agricultural Society, and was a member of Steuben Lodge No. 112, F. & AM. He married Miss Kate Hall Reynolds of Cohocton, whom he survived less than a year. He is survived by three stepsons; Max H.
