    1. Re: [McConnell] Dalton (Dal) McConnell (Moran, Perry) -- ADMIN NOTICE
    2. To all- You will notice that messages coming through to the list from the message board gateway are now showing the gateway address as the sender and NOT the person who posted the message on the board. This is due to upgrades made to the board system. The proper course of action has always been to click the link in the gateway post and reply on the board but now that method of replying will become mandatory as there is no way to reply via email to the board poster--any replies you wish to make MUST be posted on the board. Replying to only the LIST will NOT reach the board poster and clicking REPLY to the gateway post will result in the gateway address bouncing as it is not a valid address for receiving mail. Surnames: Bennett, McConnell Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/DVz.2ACEB/1797.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Last summer I had the chance to do some research in Rochester, NY. The Rundel library there has a microfiche copy of the NY state vital records index. I found 3 McConnell references that may be yours. If so, I would be interested in hearing where they fit in. I do not have the actual certificates, just the information from the index. There was a William McConnell or MacConnell who died in Newburgh in 1918 on the 30th of Jan or Jun. State death certificate # 41713. A Margaret McConnell died in Newburgh on 15 Sep 1921, state death certificate # 49072. There was also an Ann, Anna, or Annie McConnell married in Warwick on 11 Aug 1884. I called the town clerk's office and the lady there was very nice, but told me that I needed the groom's name to help them find the certificate. The Annie I was looking for was married to an Edwin or Edward Bennett, I think by the early 1890s, but the clerk tried to find the certificate under the name Bennett and was unsuccessful. So a little later I was looking at your William and Margaret's family in the census and thinking that maybe this was their daughter's marriage. Or perhaps my Annie was married to another man before the marriage to Edward or Edwin Bennett. It is probably possible to get a copy of the certificate through the state without the groom's name, but it would probably take a couple of months. State marriage certificate # 7265 I would love to find out more about my Annie. She was living in Edison (probably the one in Sussex County, not the larger, better known town) with her husband by September 14, 1892. I can't rule out the possibility that some of these McConnells are mine, so would be interested in anything you might know about them.

    3. Some of the family names are similar to my late husband's Joseph McConnell b. Ireland or Scotland d. 1840 Georgia, who was a Rev. soldier. He married Mary McCurdy, and she was born abt 1763 Rathlin Island, Antrim, Ireland... Anyone know anything about Joseph's siblings, parents, etc.? She was James McConnell's (and Eliz) daughter, Martha McConnell. Martha born about 1750, Eliz died before 1764 and James died 1764, left will, naming children James, Eliz, Jean, Martha. Archibald was William (Buck) McConnell's (and Jane Cole) son. Arch born abt 1740 (where did that 1747 birth date come from anyway?) So, Archibald and Martha were first cousins, he about 10 years older than she. Both surnames McConnell. 3. Hello Researching McCONNELL'S of Southwest Scotland and County Antrim. I have a great grandfather Henry McCONNELL with a twin sister Ann born c 1842. He also had an older brother John. His father's name was Scott McCONNELL. Henry McCONNELL married Ann McCAIN/McKAIN in 1863 and the couple sailed to America with daughter Ann between 1863 and 1867 settling in Pennsyvania.Ann was born in 1838. Ann McCAIN's father was John McCAIN from southwest Scotland. There is a family story that Henry used to 'row' across from Northern Ireland to Scotland to visit Ann on a Sunday! If anyone has any information on this family I would love to hear from you. Linda
