McLain? Who were his parents? I have a Moses and Joseph McLain (brothers) in Texas by 1856/1857. Their parents were William and Rebecca (Morehead) McLain. They were in Grimes County, Texas by 1866. Civil War pension applications give the 1856/1857 date. Moses was born in 1842 in Pennsylvania and Joseph in 1844 in Pennsylvania. Both parents were born in Pennsylvania. Moses married Narcissa (Cartwright) Bell in 1873 & Joseph married her sister Lettie Cartwright in 1866. - both in Grimes County, Texas. I cannot find them anywhere prior to 1850 nor in the 1850, 1860, or 1870 census . I do not know where they lived in Texas prior to coming to Grimes County. I have no idea if they came straight from Pennsylvania or lived elsewhere prior to ending up in Texas. Do any of these names mean anything to you? Thanks,
