Thank you for responding to my e-mail. There are so many John McClains that one could call them common. The John I wrote about was born in MD in 1712. His mother and father, Margaret and John, came to Maryland in 1711 or perhaps 1710. He died in MD. The John and Margaret of Hoke Co came to NC from Scotland around 1746. Thanks for the comment.
