All we have is that William was born in 1815 in Ohio and that he married Sarah. We have a list of their children. One son was born in Fairfield County, Ohio in 1837( Issac Wilson McClain). But all the others were born in Darke County Ohio starting about 1843 with the birth of William Perry McClain, my husband's great grandfather. I hope this helps.
