Looking for the parents and siblings for Michael McClain born about 1823 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. He married July 1844 in St. Louis, St. Louis County, Missouri to Sarah Jane Brownlee. They appear on the 1850 Census in Macoupin County, Illinois living with Sarah's parents William and Hester Brownlee. Michael was in the Civil War and died 3 June 1864 in Dallas, Paulding County, Georgia. Sarah moved her family with her parents to Decatur, Macon County, Georgia and raised her children there. They had the following children: Hester Ann born 1845, Hannah Jane born 1849, Josephine born 1850, Theodore born 1853, Melissa born 1855 and Almira Alice born 1860. The children's records all showed they were born in Alton, Madison County, Illinois. Does anyone know of any McClain or McLean's from Detroit, Michigan or even from Alton, Madison, Illinois, or Decator, Macon, Illinois or Macoupin County, Illinois? Shirley Worsley
I think the reference to Decatur, Macon County, Georgia should read Illinois, as it does further down.
