He was born in Newark, Ohio, and served in the Navy during the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; daughters, Sheila Schworm, Mandy Smith, Rosemary Mote and Georgia Eskridge; sons, Charles McClain II, Dennis McClain and Bruce Allen McClain; sister, Linda Kraugner of Ohio; brothers, George McClain and Ronald McClain, both of Ohio; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
