McClain, who on his Civil War enlistment stated that he was born in Monroe Co. New York 2-22-1833. I first record him living in Shelby Co., Ohio in 1863. He married Susan Gray and raised his family in this area. He died at the Soldier's Home in Dayton, Ohio in 1909. I do not have any info on who his parents or siblings were or where they lived.
