Hi. I am looking for a Margaret McCauley that married James O'Rourke (Rourke) in about 1865. I realize that this is probably a generation earlier than your Marie Cecelia, but maybe I can help you. Searching for my Irish McCauleys that ended up in Illinois, I have found that early Catholic church records often used the Latin form for names. That custom had ended probably by your ancestor's time in the late 1880s. But if this were true in her case - Marie Cecelia would be Latin for Mary and Cecelia is already a Latin name that the Irish translated to Gaelic as my name, Sheila. Hope that helps. Sheila Northrop
