McCauley and his father, John A. McCauley, who was born in Ireland. I am told that this family assisted with the settling and farming of the Clay County area around Lewisville Illinois. Other than their descendants that moved to Arkansas, I have little information. The family story is that John A. McCauley came on a ship to the US as a small boy with his father. The only other story that might ring a bell is that William S. McCauley's wife and my grandfather's mother, bled to death after having a tooth pulled. I have no idea if this was connected with hemophelia but nothing of this sort seems to have carried on in any of the descendants that I know. Any information is greatly appreciated.
