He was the son of a Presbyterian minister and had four brothers who were also ministers. Married Anna Gallagher on Aran Island(Arranmore Island) approx. 1820. Emigrated to Beaver Island, Michigan and is buried there with his wife.He had a son named Patrick who married Mary Sharkey of Owey Island, Donegal. They are buried in Escanaba, Michigan.
