Bruce - Do I have news for you. Leonard G. McCauley was a brother to my husbands grandfather James There were eleven in family but we can find only ten - perhaps one was a baby who died somewhere - we don't know.. Leonard was in Wyandot Co. in 1850 and 1960 we know but then I lost him. We found him in Wisconsin where he joined in the Civil War - I have direct info from Wisconsin on that. He and Abigail have a son Addison buried in the Mexico Cemetery in Wyandot Co. Ohio - We have seen his tombstone and taken a picture of it. Leonard parents Alfred and Elizabeth Edwards are buried there also and a sister of Leonard Mary Ann Lupton. I have a big book on McCauleys going back to VA and WV and I left it last week when we went to Va for a wedding. When I get it back I'll email you more. Also I have found out just two weeks ago that Abigail had several brothers and sisters and one other is married to Another sister of Leonards. We didn't know that Leonard had any other children. Evelyn, My James was born in Dublin in1839 and married in New Zealand in 1862. We are unsure what year he died but he had several children: June, Caroline, Mary, Lizzie, Blanch, Henry, John, Thomas, James. Thanks for asking. Tom, No, I'm afraid I haven't located anything except that my ancestor Patrick McCauley (b. 1830) married a Bridget McKenna who's tombstone lists her birthplace as Dublin. Hi Everyone, I too have McCauley's that have me puzzled. They are twins, 1 year of age born to a Monica McCauley. They were buried 4 August, l897 in the Cemetery of The Holy Cross in Brooklyn, New York. This buriel is in one of my family plots and we have no idea of what relationship these children and their mother (who survived) have with our family of Caulfield, Brennan, Osborn and Brenack. To those of you who have 'mystery' residents in the family plot: I'm not trying to be stupid here, but are you getting your info from just death certificates and headstones or have you also read the burial records at the cemetery? I've found them to provide a wealth of information and it really helped me tie in folks, not to mention giving me present day people to phone and from whom I could get yet more information. Another possibly untapped resource is the funeral parlor. If you have a city and know which mortuary normally buried your people it is a pretty safe bet they've been doing so all along. Tom: I have McAuley in Londonderry Co., Townland was Ballykelly, Parish was Tamlaughtfinlagan. ancestor was William m. a Letitia Stewart about 1833 left for New Brunswick Canada about the same time. Had a brother James who also settled in NB about 1834 and a third brother, George cane to NB in 1842.. A brother John didn't immigrate I assume he inherited the family farm for looking out for his mother and Father.
