My own proven McCauley line goes back to Nicholas J. McCauley, prob born in Anne Arundel Co., Md. (now Howard Co.) in 1806. I have been unsuccessful in finding out who his parents were although I believe they may have been William and Lavina Gambril McCauley. Consequently, my line doesn't go back far enough to include your George. I do have a number of records going back further, but I find no George McCauley's. This was my fathers last name and my maiden name of coarse before i married. All of my McCauleys are in the Upshur co. area...as far as I know there are many in Gassaway and Sutton more than I thought possible. So those counties Im not sure of the names of. I did go thru their historial society in Gassaway and altho the gentlemen is a little slow...he will find who u are looking for. The first time round i was told that none existed, of which ii knew was not true, as i had been to my gran's house for summers in Upshur Co. then I pushed on a little more and u both know the struggle so I dont need to tell u. Finally one day a letter came with the name of my great great grandfather whom I had been looking for ....I was so surprised. Altho u r looking for Randolph Co. please give this gentleman a try He can b found at the historical society in Gassaway WV and his name is what else....but MCCAULEY!! He has a genuine interest in helping and always wants to know if the info he sends is correct. He adds it to his database. So hes trying to help the McCauley sect out quite a bit. I'm trying to find out some information for my wife concerning her lineage. Below are the names of her Great Grand Parents and their children.
