My grandfather emigrated to Brooklyn from Ireland in 1931. He came alone and met my grandmother here. None of his brothers and sisters came with him. He is the only McCauley in his family that lived in NYC. I'm close with all of my cousins-so I do not think that we're related. Sorry-good luck on your search! Catherine

I don't know if there's a connection but thought I'd give it a try. You said your Dad's family was born in Brooklyn. Though some of the first names don't match my immediate McCauley 'family tree' from there, wondering if the past family(ies) [generations] were maybe cousins; first or second. My McCauley family was born/raised in Brooklyn(this is some time ago) originating from Ireland. I'm sure there were relatives that continued to live there, though my great grandparents moved to another borough. My great grandmother was Catherine, but my great grandfather's name was James. They had 3 maybe 4 boys, one being James Jr., and I think 2 girls. Am still searching the McCauley lists, boards etc. There wasn't much information about the Brooklyn part of the family; least none that survived the generations. Anything I can find would be great. Thank you, to you and anyone else who could possily help. Cathy GB

    3. Hello everyone. Here I am with the McCauley variety of spelling of the name. Being a beginner in the genealogy effort of a family which believes their origins to be of the Scottish Clan MacAulay of Helensburgh. Of late I have been concerned that this may not be true as I can find no information to confirm this fact. This came about as a result of not being able to find how the spelling of the name was changed to its' present form. I would most like to hear from anyone any information concerning this matter. With thanks to all who reply. Betty S. Ribble mailto:n2dogs@pacbell.net

    2. Hi Ellen, We are interested in any McCauleys that came from the Antrim area of Ireland during that time period. The ancestors we have are William and Matthew McCauley who came to the states in the 1700's. They settled in Orange County, North Carolina. We recently obtained a copy of a clipping that states that there were three brothers that came together. Would you happen to have the siblings for your John? The name of John is quite common in our family.. Appreciate any input you may have. Nora
