Have you run across William McCauley bn 1845 and Daniel McCauley bn 1843 perhaps in Holmes Co., Ohio? Father John McCauley bn abt 1815 mother Rachel (maybe Colby). Family records say he was born in Scotland and she in Ireland. They migrated to Elizabethtown KY in 1848. John died about six weeks after arrival to visit brother William bn abt 1813

I am not for sure what county lila was born in but if it wasn't shelby county it was cherokee co. are ponola... I am doing a search.. On Obe. I know his farher was john D McCauley and I hvae look in some other family trees postings and some how he is being left out.so this is makeing it a hard job. most of John D McCauley children where born in San Augustine. .. and from what I gather he was a very busy man.. 17 kids.. 3 wifes, but not all at the same time... Her name was Lillie (Lilly?) Mae McCauley. She married Albert Thackston and lived in Greenville, S.C.

There were a large number of McCauley's who settled in Clarion Co., PA. Think there was an irish settlement there. My gggrandmother sold her property to a Samuel McCauely. I am looking for McCauley's from Antrim Ireland. Brothers John b abt 1817 and William b abt 1815. Wm came to US abt 1840's and settled in Elizabethtown, Ky. John came with wife Rachel in 1848 with sons Wm b 1845 and Daniel b 1843. John died six weeks after arriving iin Elizabethtown, Ky. The only clue I have is Rachel's bible that says Rachel, Wm and Daniel were born in Antrim, Ireland. In census records John is listed sometimes as being born in Scotland and sometimes Ireland. I have the dates but my mother has my book. I also, thru the Gassaway WVA historical society found a Harold McCauley think it was Harold. He would be the eldest and I do have that info.....with my mom too. I will get it for you and post this next week. The gentleman that gave me the last info was from Gassaway WVA and is a McCauley too. I know we spelled that last name numerous ways. I think that is one of the reasons it is so hard to research. Hope this is of help to you. And I shall get back to you with the dates of death and birth and the correct last name of Alberts wife my grandfather was Frank McCauley he died in 1982 his wife was Elba Marie Kellison McCauley who died before him the exact date again is in my book. My father was William Stuart McCauley born 8/27/20 died 12/2799 he married Mary Ruth Barker b 3/25/22 still living.

Although some were located in Sutton and Gassaway, which Im not sure what county that is. My grandfather was also a Frank McCauley married to Elba Marie Kellison his father was Albert McCauley married to Julianna Ingles or Rexroad. My father was William Stuart McCauley of Rock Cave, WVA he passed away in December of 1999. He didnt know of his family either. My information came from my uncle...Orris Dayton McCauley who also passed away in May of 2000. Thank God I asked him about this information. My dad just remembered that someone had a little black dog. My dad was quite a character....most McCauleys are ha ha I dont know if this has helped u out. But I am also seeking the rest of the tribe. I especially want to find the missing link between here and Ireland. I do know that its in Northern Ireland, as I was in Scotland this past October but couldnt stay long enough to investigate. I dont think he is your Tom McCauley. Mine is frorm WVA exact town is Sutton, WVA which I think is in Upshur Co. I am told he is a doctor or was. Im not sure if the man is still alive. So this is most likely not your Tom McCauley. You caught my eye as my father was William McCauley also. His grandfather was Albert McCauley. His father was Frank McCauley who was married to Elba Kellison of RockCave WVA. Does this sound familiar to you. And do you know where we came from in Ireland? I know there are 625 households with the last name McCauley in Northern Ireland. I was told we came from Scotland and were named Auley. But we helped out the McGuires in a battle (always were fighters those Mc Cauleys ha ) and married into that family. Therefore some are Mc Auleys and others McCauleys. There are many different spellings of that surname. Until I started looking....I had no idea. I dont think I can help you...but if you have any info on our family...please email me and let me know.
