Hi Peggy, The McCauley line I am working on is my son-in-laws. His name is also William McCauley. He descends from the original William through William and Cornelia. Their son Charles married Julia Ann Watson. There is a long standing tradition in this branch of naming a child after the McCauley grandparent. This explains the Charles & William connection. My son in laws ggrandfather had a sister named Charles Anna which we found on census. If you want, I can send a quick descendancy list. Could you send one to me also? Let me know as soon as you can if you want names only, or should I add the b dates, etc. I can get one done on saturday. Nora

Surnames: Kerrigan, McCauley, Gillespie Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/zQz.2ACEB/590 Message Board Post: Looking for information about Bridgett McCauley (b.abt 1835, possible maiden name, Kerrigan), married to Thomas McCauley, abt 1850. Thomas McCauley's parents were Thomas and Mary McCauley. Thomas most likely had brothers named Terence and James. James' wife's name was Anna; Terence's wife's name was Bridgett (Gillespie, b. abt 1815). The Kerrigans and the McCauleys were from Co. Donegal, lived in Burlington, VT during late 1840's and early 1850's before setting in Winona Co. MN. James Kerrigan (b.1807) of Bundoran, Co. Donegal, Ireland was married to Hanorah Gillespie (b.1803), came to USA with 5 or 6 children, stayed in Vermont 1852-1856, then settled in Winona Co, MN, buying a farm outside the town of Dresbach in a place known as McCauley Valley. It is believed that James and Hanorah had a daughter named Bridgett, and was married to a McCauley. I believe that Hanorah's sister, Bridgett was married to Terence McCauley; they had no children. I also believe that Bridg! ett Kerrigan married Thomas McCauley, Terence's brother. Terence and Bridgett McCauley and a Thomas McCauley are buried at Pine Creek Cemetery, west of LaCrescent, Winona Co. MN. There is some indication that the McCauley family moved to St. Paul or Minneapolis. Any information would be appreciated. Anne Burdick

This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/zQz.2ACEB/587 Message Board Post: I recently purchased a wonderful old studio photograph of "D. H. McCauley", which was signed by him, and dated 4/14/14. I got this last week at an antique shop in LaGrange, IL. I enjoy rescuing lovely old pictures like these from antique shops and locating descendants/family members so that I can re-unite the pictures, for only my costs, with people who will treasure them. The photo was taken by the Root Studio, 304 S. Wabash, Chicago, IL, and shows Mr. McCauley as a very distinguished man, possibly a businessman. The picture is 7-1/2" x 5" wide, and enclosed in a tri-fold cardstock display, as was typical during that time period. It is in excellent/perfect condition and is an original (not a copy). He looks to be about late-20's to early-30s, and is dressed in a three piece suit. He has brown hair, and is wearing pince-nez glasses on his nose. If you have McCauley ancestors in your family from this time frame or can relate to D. H. McCauley, please Email me at margerice@prodigy.net - and I will get back to you shortly.
