Carol: I am descended from Michael McCarty from Cork Co., Ireland, through his grandson, Philip's son, Tillman's line. Michael's son Michael II married for the 2nd time Martha Boddie from this union they had several children, one of which was Philip Michael McCarty. Philip's 2nd wife was Mahala Boddie from this union they had several children, one of which was Tillman Watson McCarty from whom I am descended through Tillman's son, Michael. I say all this to say there is probably a connection to your Henry although I'm not sure where. Michael McCarty II had 12 children, so we think. His 3rd wife, Nancy Phillips and he had his last child, Henry McCarty in abt 1823 probably in Alabama. I show that Michael & Nancy gave their consent for Henry to marry Elizabeth Elvira Gilley on December 9, 1838. I have 1 child from their union, Owen Alsy "Alsa" McCarty. Does any of this fit? The informant on the death certificate 14 Nov 1915 was WILLIE FLEMING, Henry's oldest grandson at the time of death. I am wondering if John and Jane Howell were 2nd generation in the U.S. (and not the immigrants) and one of their mother's name was BODDIE.
