I would like any information about Lemuel McCarty, b. 22 Dec. 1854 in Lancaster Co. PA. Lemuel was the firstborn son of Henry McCarty and Sarah Anne Zellers. Lemuel moved with his family to Sterling, Illinois and from there to Tama, Iowa in about 1866. I believe Lemuel left the family for some reason at age 14. He was not identified in the family after that time, and his youngest brothers never mentioned him. I do not know if they were aware of this, their oldest brother. Lemuel and his wife, Sarah Hall, had nine children. Melville Robert b.1876 , William Walter b. 1879, Frederick, Ona Minnie b. 1882, Jessie, Irvin b,. 1884, Bert Franklin b. 1886, Flora Delores b. 1886, and Lelia b. 1892. Lemuel died tragically at age 37 in a railroad accident 12 Feb. 1892. He is buried in Tama, Iowa. Please contact me at [email protected] if you have any information on any of this family.
