Soooo, North Carolina, she said, and my ears shot up like the old hound dog on the porch at the sound of a cat's meow. Seriously, I am looking for a North Carolina connection with my McCarty line. Do you have any additional information on your Jacob and his family there? My Line desceends from Abner McCarty, born 1798 in NC married to Lora (?) found on Scott County VA Census. My branch descends from his son Jeremiah (1819-1871) who married Malinda Kilgore of that county and who settled in Floyd County KY ca ca 1844. That portion of Floyd County (Lakeville, later Stinson) later became part of Magoffin County formed in 1865. I have lond suspectd that this family, because of given names of children is related to the Bucks County PA group. the Nicholas McCarty who settled in Jefferson County KY had a son named John who Married Margaret Smith (dau of Adam Smith) in 1798 and had a son also Named Abner as a first born. But Because My abner is born in 1798 and because that wedding supposedly took place in June it is surmized that that Abner was born in 1799. Further, since that family apparently remains in Nelson County it does not do much to explain the birth place of my Abner. However descendants of the Buck County line have atleast three Abner's born in this same generation. And several in the following generations. I have eliminated all but John McCarty's son who seems to have disappeared from the records after the mention of his birth. If your Jacob descends from this Bucks county line then I may have a connection to that line. H. S.
