The John McCarty family that came to Cherry Run Valley in Mt Pleasant Twp., Wash Co in 1773. He had five sons, - Timothy, John, James, Samuel, and Robert, and a daughter Cassia, who married William Elder. John, son of Thimothy , inherited the place. John, the second son of John McCarty (1773), settled on one hundred acres of the home tract also given him by his father. He sold it to John, the son of Timothy, in 1835, and removed to Ohio.
