Hi Louise: Ditto! My McCarty's are also from PA, also a brick wall. My G-Grandmother was Mary Elizabeth McCARTY, b. Feb 14, 1810, probably Cambria Co., PA (Indications are that she was baptized in Cambria). She was living in Greenville, Mercer Co., PA, at the time of her marriage Feb 22, 1827, to William Atlee JAMES. She died Aug 25, 1885, in PA, but family records don't record where. William Atlee James was a men's tailor in the Pittsburgh area so it is likely she was in western PA. Mary had a brother John McCarty who married Mary JAMES, a sister to William Atlee JAMES. Do you or any other Listers recognize these McCARTY's?
