Hi, Roberta, I believe the Dennis McCARTY in discussion descends from the same line as I do which is the Michael McCARTY, Sr. line out of Edgefield, SC. According to my understanding, Michael McCARTY, Sr., was born in abt. 1728 in County Cork, Ireland. Now, I do understand from a gentleman I met who was born in County Cork, Ireland that there are many McCARTY's in County Cork so I don't know if the McCARTY's that you mention from County Cork in the 1800's were related closely to our SC McCARTY's but I would say that it is quite likely that they are related at some level there in County Cork.
