    3. Jean I don't know that it Connects, But I have been searching for a north Carolina Family For Abner McCarty, born in (according to the 1850 Scott County Census) 1898 in NC. Let me ask you if you have a County from which he came and who you have as children maybe we can work it backwards. My Abner married a Lora Dunn who was born in VA all of the known children were born in VA. At least two and maybe 4 or more of his hildren ended up in Central eastern KY-- Morgan, Elliott, Floyd, and Magoffin Counties. The wife died in her Known Children are: 1 Jeremiah,b 1819 m. 1844 to Malinda Kilgore in Scott County VA. Settled in Floyd County KY ca the same year in a section that in 1860 became part of Magoffin County KY. Died ca 1871 OTHers??? 4James b 1829 found on 1850 census Scott County VA in house hold of Abner McCarty and Lora Dunn McCarty, occupation miller, other details unknown 3 Tabiatha or Tobiatha McCarty (F) b 1830married Barnett Porter sometime prior to 1850 Census settled in Eliott County. (mother is suposedly burried there and passed away in this household in 1880. According to some Lora and Abner settled in Morgan County sometime after a850, but as yet I have found no record to that effect. Others 4Polly (on census but usually a nickname for Mary, especially in this family and related families) b 1824. (she was 16 on the census) no other details known. 2nd Generation Children of Jeremiah and Malinda (Kilgore) McCarty contains 3 names which have no precident among other McCarty families I have traced. They may indicate a tie to earlier families/ 1 unknown, died at birth or shortly after 2 Harmon McCarty 3 Harlin McCarty 4 Matilda The other names can be explained by her family and the Mother's family. Harlan appears in Mary's family as well as in Jeremiah's. Does any of this fit your Jacob? By the way Michael connects your family to the family of a patriarch of the same name. (Dennis and Capt. Daniel are two well doccumented members of this group which include many branches that end up in the deep south. They have Roots in VA MD PA and the Carolinas as well. They are possibly closely related to the Bucks County group as well. Looking forward on exchanging information with you that may take both lines bacvk to their roots.
