I am not sure about that. There is already a way for those who want to receive the queries to subscribe to them. I am a County Coordinator and a list owner, and have many people who do NOT wish to receive every query that is posted to the query board, but to go there and search the queries for their specific individual once a month or so. For folks who subscribe to many lists and boards, this could overwhelm them and cause them to leave the mailing lists so they would not have to get all the queries that they don't want to read. The automatic delivery to the mail list eliminates the choice of the subscriber to get the queries or not to get them. Just my opinion. Jeanette Shouse
Yes, Mary Mitchell was both Reuben's mother-in-law and step-mother. She was Reuben's father's second wife. I don't know if she was Reuben's step mother at the time he married Mary's daughter, Nancy Turnet Webb. Reuben died June 15, 1901 and is buried at Butler Church outside Saluda, SC. Caroline Lenora McCarty , b. 1840, m. 1857, Whitfield Brooks, b. 20 March 1833, d. 15 March 1895, Saluda, SC. Martha Brooks, b. 1859 m. Will B. "Callie" Pourifoy, b. 28 Aug 1863, d. 2 June 1927 Paul
Posted on: McCarty & McCarthy Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/McCarty?read=169 Surname: McCarty, Zellers, Palmer, Parmer, Swope ------------------------- Interested in learning more about John McCarty family of Lancaster Co. PA. Also family of Ephnam Zellers, Mary Parmer, Catherine Swope - all born 1790's 1800's. Henry McCarty, son of John McCarty, born 7 March 1829 in Lancaster Co. Henry went west about 1856-58 - stopped for a time in Indiana. I would like to know where in Indiana this family settled and for how long. By 1862 they were in Whiteside County, Illinois (Sterling). I have no information on any of the other families, other than names. Henry married Sarah Anne Zellers in Lancaster Co. 8 January 1854. Their first child, Lemuel, was born 22 December 1854. If anyone has any way of verifying this birth information, I would appreciate having the verification.
Young & Mary Ann sold their property in Itawamba, Ms in Sept 1845 and were moving to Texas. Young & his eldest son, who was 16 or 17 came on ahead to put in the crops and were never heard from again. She had a baby born in 1853 in Texas, so apparently they did not leave immediately to go to Texas. At least one of his brothers and family were there in Itawamba also.I believe it was Dennis. Mary Ann Riley McCarty Middleton died in Ellis Co. on 30 Nov. 1872 age 54 yr, 7 mo, 21 days. and was buried in the Tellico Cemetery. Figuring this mathematically I believe that she was born April 9, 1818. Also in the same area was a son W. E. McCarty b 10 Oct 1843 died 18 Feb 1900. His wife Margaret C b 2 Feb 1846 d, 16 Mar 1888--she was a daughter of Robt Middleton, Mary Ann's 2nd husband. Another son, J. A. McCarty b 30 Oct 1851 d. 19 Nov 1878. Daughter Sarah A. McCarty Beene b 25 May 1847 d 7 March 1891 and her husband R. M. Beene b 25 Aug 1848 d 15 Dec 1900. He was a grndson of Robt Middleton. A little beyond these 2 graves were 3 small vertical slabs with no writing on them and I wondered if they represented three newborns who died. Dau. Susan C. McCarty Holcomb b 30 Oct 1848 d 14 Nov 1881. I can't get to my Mac right now as my husband is paying bills on it, so I cannot give the full names at this time. If anyone is interested write me and I'll be glad to post them. Hope that this helps someone. Bellinda, Do you have proof of the relationship between Michael & Dennis McCarty? I have always felt sure that there was one, but I don't know for sure. I am looking for info regarding Nancy McCarty, born 1840; d: 1923; in Antrim County, Michigan. Her daughter, born 1886- died 1904. Eva was my grandmother. Nancy was married to John Willis, died 1883(?). I would like to know Nancy's parents and siblings, if any. Thank you.
Hi, Roberta, I believe the Dennis McCARTY in discussion descends from the same line as I do which is the Michael McCARTY, Sr. line out of Edgefield, SC. According to my understanding, Michael McCARTY, Sr., was born in abt. 1728 in County Cork, Ireland. Now, I do understand from a gentleman I met who was born in County Cork, Ireland that there are many McCARTY's in County Cork so I don't know if the McCARTY's that you mention from County Cork in the 1800's were related closely to our SC McCARTY's but I would say that it is quite likely that they are related at some level there in County Cork. Sincerely, Bellinda Myrick - Barnett

I don't have Young or Jacobs birthdates, however, Reuben was born 29 Mar 1822. The second wife of Dennis was Mary Mitchell, the widow of Arthur Turner Webb and the mother-in-law of Reuben. Dennis was Reuben's father. And I believe Dennis' father was also named Dennis. Paul
I guess I'm one. Which Dennis? Paul McCarty

Patsy, That Jacob McCarty would be younger than my Young and Paul's Reuben, he was quite possibly the next generation. Young & Reuben were brothers. The did have an older brother named Jacob. Hi, Cliff, It seems as there is something in the 'cosmos' this week causing computer glitches as I, also, have a problem I hopefully will soon rectify with my computer....perhaps throwing it out of a 20th floor window would help! I don't have all the dates in front of me right now....but have most of them in computer files. Anyway....I descend from this Edgefield Co., SC McCARTY line through Michael, Sr, born: abt. 1728 in Ireland, Michael, Jr., Edward, Alford, Hyram/Hiram, and Martha Ann Caroline McCARTY, (think that's right order,) and her husband, William Tunley JONES through their daughter, Rodella JONES, who married Cicero Lamkin HATTEN/HATTON, and their daughter, Ethel Rosalee HATTEN/HATTON (first husband, Joseph Marion WOMACK,) who married Louis Hector SLAUGHTER, born: abt. 1870, my grandparents. (These families were out of Winn Parish, Winnsboro, and then West Carroll Parish, Louisiana by the 1940's.) Louis Hector SLAUGHTER was the son of Hudson H. SLAUGHTER, born: 1844 in Greene/Pickett Co., AL, and married Clarissa WILLIAMS, born: abt. 1845, parents: William WILLIAMS, born: abt. 1795 in Maryland, and his wife: Elizabeth WILLIAMS, born in Ohio, and they lived in Franklin Parish, Louisiana. Searching to find out more info on this WILLIAMS family. Hudson H. SLAUGHTER, born: 1844, was the son of John M. SLAUGHTER, born: abt. 1795 in NC, (son of Owen SLAUGHTER, Jr. and his wife, Mary McDONALD,) and Hudson's wife, Susan CROUCH, born: 1815 in NC, daughter of Sarah ? and Samuel CROUCH, born: abt. 1785 in NC. Sincerely, Bellinda Myrick - Barnett
Cliff, I have a Dennis McCarty, son of Michael McCarty, Jr. (1754 Edgefield - 1834 Alabama) and his first wife Ellen ?? (1758 Edgefield - d: ??) I don't know if this is the Dennis McCarty you are looking for. Sorry but I do not have any data at all on Dennis other than he is the sibling of Edward McCarty (Sr.) who married Sarah Larramore and had Annice McCarty (my husband's ancestor) who married Henry Walker... and so on down the line. Barbara Wright Slidell, La. [email protected]
Would like to get in touch with the Dennis McCarty of Edgefield Co., SC researchers. Had a few computer problems this past few weeks and lost all of my e-mail addresses. I also had to change my internet service, so my e-mail address has changed from Sprintmail.com The above is the correct address. Cliff
