Bob, That Nicholas and Thomas are the fellows I need. Those two would be the two that end up in Kentucky and as I suspected they are brothers not father and son. These two turn up later at the cherry Island settlement at presdent day Louisville, now if I can only find out who Richard is and where he fits into the picture I will have it made. Theree is still the question opf John McCarty who married Anne Harman though. I don't know how he fits the picture but I will figure out that later. Do you have any data to support these children for John? and any information on them beyond their birth years? My Indiana line is Sarah McCarty Corwin, the daughter of John and Margaret Wintrow McCarty. All I know is that Sarah was born in PA, and that the family lived in Warren County, OH. John died there 4 Apr 1844, his birth date is about 1775. The children of John and Margaret McCarty: 1. Steve, I am getting so confused, I forgot that I have Sarah's death cert., & on it, it states that she was born in KY, name of Father McCarty, birth place of Father KY., maiden name of mother Millie Darby, but I'm sure it was Davis I think ???? & Millie (Milla) was born in KY. Sarah was born Sept. 7, 1840, & died Dec. 10th, 1928 in Dallas Texas. I also have a picture taken shortly before her death, along with her daughter Elizabeth Gee Cayce Highsmith. Elizabeth was the one on the death cert that gave the information. She is buried in Grove Hill Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. On the 1850 Carter County, KY. census it also lists Dewit as Milla's son, age 11, I can't find any trace of a Dewit anywhere, you would think that would be easy to find unless Dewit was him middle name or a nick name. Then there was Eliza., she was age 6 in the 1850 census, & I have no information on her either. Sarah got married on Oct. 12, 1862 to William Gee in the home of Mrs McCarty in Boyd County, KY. On her marriage cert. it states that both parents were born in PA. This is so confusing, Elizabeth was getting up in years when she gave Sarah's death cert. info., but you would think she would know who her father was besides McCarty, & her mother was Milla not Millie, on all the census's I have she is Milla not Millie, & father's last name Davis, not Darby, how confusing. I have a Richard McCarty who was supposed to have married Milla Davis. She was living in Carter Co. Ky. in 1850. She had 3 children living with her, Dewit age 11, Sarah age 9, (my GGGrandmother), & Eliza age 6. She also had several Davis children living in her household, & the next family was a Hezekiah Davis who I believe to be her brother. On Sarah's marriage cert. in 1862 it states that both parents were born in PA. On later census's of the family it states that Sarah's parents were born in KY. I don't know what happened to Richard, because in 1850 there is no mention of him, or on Sarah's marriage cert. I figure Richard was born in the early 1800's or very late 1700's, because Milla his wife was 38 in the 1850 census. Any help or place to look would be greatly appreciated. According to "The Founding of Harman's Station" bu William E. Connelly Jenny escaped from the Indians. Though the story he relates seems a little wild. It was the one her descendants told (I beleive her last surviving son told the story to Mr Connelly) He lists the Connelly family tree there. For those interested in Thomas, b 1741, d 1804. Thomas was a Rev. War veteran, and is buried in the Old Walton Cemetery, Muncy, Lycoming Co., PA. After his death his wife, Elizabeth LANCASTER McCarty returned to their previous home area before coming to Lycoming Co in about 1894. Elizabeth died in 1806 and is buried in Quakertown, PA.
