Unless you're ready to meet the author in court, do not post copyrighted material to this list. On the other hand, facts taken from public records are not copyrighted. It's the manner in which they are delivered or presented (published, etc) that are copyrighted. Sue McCarty-L listowner

    1. [McCARTY-L] Edgefield SC to MS McCartys
    2. Kathy Y Jeffers
    3. Hi, Has anyone ran across a Sterling McCarty b. circa 1813 in their research of Edgefield SC to MS McCartys? He is in Hinds Co MS in the 1840 census and in close proximity to a Michael McCarty in some Hinds Co tax digests. Sterling moved on to FL around 1841 and in all following census states SC as his birthplace. Would love to know the connection between Sterling and Michael, if there is one. This is my McCarty "brick wall". Thanks Kathy Y Jeffers South Carolina

    1. Re: [McCARTY-L] McCarty in Ohio
    2. I have a McCarty line in Ohio. I have a John that was born 1798 in Virginia and moved to Ohio. The move occured in the early 1830's. John married Elizabeth Ann Sims and they had William 1822, James A. 1828, Thomas R. 1830, and John (Jack) 1831 while in Virginia. After they moved to Ohio they had Mary 1836, George 1838 David 1844. We beleive that they also had a Sarah and possibly a second daughter named Mary. Unfortunately we know nothing of John's parents or siblings. John and Elizabeth are buried in the Deerfield cem. in Morgan Co. Ohio. terri

    2. R. F. Hickey
    3. Let's step eastward one state from all the incredible info being posted on IN McCarty's. Does anyone have McCarty lines in Ohio? My McCarty's are very hard to trace because they start in OH (my oldest records) and then are found in GA, AR, and TX in that order. According to death certificate of my g-gfa L. R. McCarty, his father Jacob was born about 1827 in Ohio. Jacob died in Parker County, TX, on 3 May 1911. He was married to (1) Arabella Unknown, mother of my L. R., (2) E. J. (?Eliza) Unknown, and (3) Stacey Hardburger. Arabella and E. J. are buried side by side in the New Bethel Cemetery, Yell Co, AR. Arabella was the mother of all Jacob's children: Columbus William "Lum," J. N., James W., John, Alonzo Refinis (the L. R. above), and Ellen. At least two of Jacob's children were born in the Cartersville, GA, area. Hope someone can tie into this line or can head me in the right direction. Thanks, Dixie Hickey

    3. Cliff, I see you have an Albert McCarty. Do you know when he was born and if he disappeared? Do you know who his sons are. My husbands grandfather came from the states but know one knows where. The family came originally from Cork Co Ireland I have been told. There has been mention of a Young McCarty and a King McCarty. My husbands grandfather was a carpenter and died of blood poisioning. He came to Canada with 4 or 5 sons Clifford,Orm ,Elmer,Alfred. I do not know who his first wife was. My husbands father was by a second marriage. I think one of his sons married his second wifes sister or else it was a brother. He married Eva Cook in about 1915.
