Aug 1861 to SARAH E. BRANNON b.18 Feb 1842. She was born Augusta, Richmond Co., GA. Came to Arkansas in 1881-1882 by wagon train. They settled in Faulkner Co.,AR. Family tradition and grandchildren of Henry & Sarah all claim his father & mother were immigrants to the U.S. "He was an Irish catholic & she was English protestant & their parents opposed their marriage" They settled in Charleston, S.C. before moving to Huntsville, AL. Her maiden name supposedly was BODDIE. However, Henry's death cert. states that "his father was JOHN McCARTY born in AL. & his mother's name as JANE HOWELL, also b. in AL. The informant on the death certificate 14 Nov 1915 was WILLIE FLEMING, Henry's oldest grandson at the time of death. I am wondering if John and Jane Howell were 2nd generation in the U.S. (and not the immigrants) and one of their mother's name was BODDIE. Henry & Sarah Brannon McCarty's children were: Samuel Henry b.1863 - AL; Jimmie Brannon b. 1865 AL; Mary Eliz.(Molly) b. 1867 AL; Lucy Carolin b. 21 Nov 1869 AL; Wilmouth b. 19 Jan 1871 AL; Joseph Harry b.22 Feb 1873; Martha b. 1875 AL; Franklin Howard b. I would like any information about Lemuel McCarty, b. 22 Dec. 1854 in Lancaster Co. PA. Lemuel was the firstborn son of Henry McCarty and Sarah Anne Zellers. Lemuel moved with his family to Sterling, Illinois and from there to Tama, Iowa in about 1866. I believe Lemuel left the family for some reason at age 14. He was not identified in the family after that time, and his youngest brothers never mentioned him. I do not know if they were aware of this, their oldest brother. Lemuel and his wife, Sarah Hall, had nine children. Melville Robert b.1876 , William Walter b. 1879, Frederick, Ona Minnie b. 1882, Jessie, Irvin b,. 1884, Bert Franklin b. 1886, Flora Delores b. 1886, and Lelia b. 1892. Lemuel died tragically at age 37 in a railroad accident 12 Feb. 1892. He is buried in Tama, Iowa. Please contact me at [email protected] if you have any information on any of this family. Soooo, North Carolina, she said, and my ears shot up like the old hound dog on the porch at the sound of a cat's meow. Seriously, I am looking for a North Carolina connection with my McCarty line. Do you have any additional information on your Jacob and his family there? My Line desceends from Abner McCarty, born 1798 in NC married to Lora (?) found on Scott County VA Census. My branch descends from his son Jeremiah (1819-1871) who married Malinda Kilgore of that county and who settled in Floyd County KY ca ca 1844. That portion of Floyd County (Lakeville, later Stinson) later became part of Magoffin County formed in 1865. I have lond suspectd that this family, because of given names of children is related to the Bucks County PA group. the Nicholas McCarty who settled in Jefferson County KY had a son named John who Married Margaret Smith (dau of Adam Smith) in 1798 and had a son also Named Abner as a first born. But Because My abner is born in 1798 and because that wedding supposedly took place in June it is surmized that that Abner was born in 1799. Further, since that family apparently remains in Nelson County it does not do much to explain the birth place of my Abner. However descendants of the Buck County line have atleast three Abner's born in this same generation. And several in the following generations. I have eliminated all but John McCarty's son who seems to have disappeared from the records after the mention of his birth. If your Jacob descends from this Bucks county line then I may have a connection to that line. H. S. Steve, Thanks for catching my error regarding Silas and Ann. (message 4/5/00) The Thomas I refered to was g-son of John and Ann, s/o Silas (b cc 1700 d 1750 in Haycock Twp., Bucks Co., PA) and Sarah Carrell, not Ann. As mentioned previously, Thomas was a Rev War Vet, died 1804 in Muncy, PA and buried there. Evelyn
