Here is the line I sent previously: > > Enoch McCarty, Fredrick VA. 1753-1818, mar. Elenor Morgan > Enoch, 1794-1850 b.Washington Co.,VA, d. MO, mar. Mattie Hays, then > Nancy Gillespie > Campbell, 1820-1902, b. VA, d. MO, mar. Mollie Woods > George, 1855-1941, b.MO, d.TX, mar. Mattie Crites (my grandparents) I have documentation on all the above, except the first Enoch. I have found in land deeds that Enoch (b.1794) had a father named Enoch in the same county. It is the correct area and time for that father to be Enoch, son of Darby. But that is where I do not have any proof. There has been much written about Darby and some of it is on 'net. But I have found no actual dates as to when Darby came to this country, etc. If anyone has more details I would like to know them. I am still trying to work backward from my proven Enoch. I have family group sheets on all the above except the first name. Anelle
I'm very interested on the information you have regarding the Enoch McCarty line. My line goes back from Eleanor Bowen McCarty who married Benjamin Franklin Davis. Her father was Benjamin McCarty according to my information. The information I have was that Enoch's father was Darby McCarty and his father Timothy McCarty. Do you have any information back from Enoch McCarty? Mary L Hastings -----Original Message----- From: Anelle Kloski [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, May 14, 2000 11:17 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [McCARTY-L] New member - Enoch McCarty I am new to the list, I think. That is, I routinely go in a list and monitor it for a year or so, then unsubscribe when I think I have gotten all of the information available at the time. Then I go back later and and start focusing on that line again. So, I may have corresponded with some of you before. I am still trying to find more information on the following direct line, from father to son: Enoch McCarty, Fredrick VA. 1753-1818, mar. Elenor Morgan Enoch, 1794-1850 b.Washington Co.,VA, d. MO, mar. Mattie Hays, then Nancy Gillespie Campbell, 1820-1902, b. VA, d. MO, mar. Mollie Woods George, 1855-1941, b.MO, d.TX, mar. Mattie Crites (my grandparents) I have more information on the above if anyone is interested. I have documented evidence of all the above except the first. I know Enoch Jr. had a father named Enoch, but I do not have documents that prove these two were father and son. The first Enoch descended from Darby McCarty, who has been researched alot. If anyone has information on Darby's parents etc. I would be most interested. Carol: I am descended from Michael McCarty from Cork Co., Ireland, through his grandson, Philip's son, Tillman's line. Michael's son Michael II married for the 2nd time Martha Boddie from this union they had several children, one of which was Philip Michael McCarty. Philip's 2nd wife was Mahala Boddie from this union they had several children, one of which was Tillman Watson McCarty from whom I am descended through Tillman's son, Michael. I say all this to say there is probably a connection to your Henry although I'm not sure where. Michael McCarty II had 12 children, so we think. His 3rd wife, Nancy Phillips and he had his last child, Henry McCarty in abt 1823 probably in Alabama. I show that Michael & Nancy gave their consent for Henry to marry Elizabeth Elvira Gilley on December 9, 1838. I have 1 child from their union, Owen Alsy "Alsa" McCarty. Does any of this fit? I'm not really up on the Boddies but have some information on them if you want to contact me by e-mailing me. I am not sure but I thought I saw the Larkin McCARTY name attached to the group of McCARTY's that descend from Michael McCARTY, Sr. who was born in abt. 1728 in County Cork, Ireland and then emigrated to South Carolina. Other researchers from this line need to step in here as I am not familiar enough with this line but it certainly seems familiar to me. I am still trying to connect my elusive McCartys to someone. Does anyone have... Larkin E. McCarty-b. abt. 1813 in South Carolina...living in Talladega County, AL in 1850. This list was actually in moderated mode from 5-5-2000 (the date of the offending off-topic message) until late 5-10-2000, at which time I turned it back into a unmoderated list. I really had hopes since no remarks made about this particular posting had made it to the list, and that we were all adult enough to ignore it and go on with our research. Unfortunately I was wrong <sigh>. Until further notice this list will be moderated. Hopefully sometime in the future, our subscribers will think twice about posting off-topic material, and others who just have to comment about the content, will take the time to send their remarks to the person posting the message, and not to the list. Please note, that messages posted to this list will be delayed since they will have to pass through my email first. I work during the day, so postings may be hours late reaching this list. Folks, Before we start flaming each other over this lets all cool off. First as a general rule surname lists really should be limited to the topic at hand. Though naturally other topics do appear from time to time. Some of those are acceptable, such as, how to access different data bases or work a specific feature on some program like FTM (family tree maker) which many on the list might have knowledge of. Second, personal opinions such as politics and religious views might offend others. There are several groups about which I have no desire to hear from. And I am quite sure that many folks have similar feelings. Third, before we cast a stone at anyone for making what someone else feels is an inappropriate post, lets stop and think. Have you ever sent a personal post to the list by mistake? Have you ever not changed the topic line on a post? Have you ever typed in all capitals or all small letters? Have you sent a message with an unreadable background? There are hundreds of violations daily of netiquette . Unless someone continuously flaunts the rules and conventions of this (or any other) list I think calls for banning are unjustifiably harsh. So lets, all get back to beating our heads against our brickwalls. terri
Connie, Do you have descendant info on your William McCarty? What was his wife's maiden name? Any descendant info would be helpful, especially if the family stayed in AL until 1880s. While the context on the message may have been off-topic, to ban them from this list for a message such is that is exactly whats wrong with this world. I won't get on my soapbox except to say look at what has happened to our schools since we forced Him from there. If this person is removed, you can remove me also. I was really offended to see the religious message. I'am as religious as the next guy but I thought this list serve was moderated. If your monitoring this list serv, then lets keep the religious commercials out. There are appropriate places for that kind of propaganda and self-agrandizement. See [email protected] "Makes you think".
I am new to the list, I think. Anelle McCarty Kloski
Steve: Thanks for this message. It really does make you think.... God has been very good to me, and I believe in him.
