    3. I am replying, since I originally mentioned this book. (It gets complicated sometimes to tell who originally mentioned something on a list.) The Richard Justin McCarty book was published in 1925. As I remember his family were in Indiana, sometimes. The book was published in MO. I think the writer was a professor. That is all I remember. 3. No, I have not seen this book for about 40 years. The only name I remember, other than the author's, was a girl named Valeria. anelle

    3. There are a number of Dennis McCartys in Clara McCarty's book. These are the descriptions after the name Dennis McCarty in the index: (Loudon Co.) Maj. ("Newington") (Richmond Co.) (son of Billington III) (son of Maj. Dennis) (son of Newington) ("Willow Hill" Let me know if I can look up more details. Do you know any connection with these people and Darby? The book does list one Enoch, killed at the first battle of Manassas, July 1, 1861. I have looked at the Hayden book, but did not think I found any relatives of mine. Anelle

    3. Anelle, are the McCartys in McC of VA the ones compiled in VIRGINIA GENEALOGIES by Rev. Horace Edwin Hayden (if you know..) Many of them are named Dennis. Most of them are in my FTM file, but Hayden left plenty of holes to fill. Hadn't heard of the book you mentioned, so am curious. 3. Someone earlier was asking about a Justin McCarty, and I said I had read a library book once by a Justin McCarty. Today I have been enjoying myself looking through the used book sites on the web. I found a copy of this book at ABE Books: it is WORK AND PLAY: THE ANCESTRY AND EXPERIENCE OF RICHARD JUSTIN MCCARTY, an autobiography. I am very tempted to buy it, even though I don't think he is related to me. But I thought I would mention it to the list, in case someone else is interested. They also have a book by Clara McCarty; I have had her MCCARTYS OF VIRGINIA for some time, but she doesnt mention my family either. Her book on this site is about Boxwood, which sounds like the name of a plantation. I have been buying so many books which I can't possibly live without, that I have to stop myself ordering more. But if anyone needs help getting to this site, let me know. (I have no interest in the company, but I think they should make me a partner soon, if I don't quit finding things I can't live without!)
