That said, Linda, your Joel Albert McCann in 1870 could easily have spelled his name as "McCan" at an earlier time. I've tried searching for your Joel Albert McCann with little luck. Did locate a marriage record for Joel A. McCann and "Addeline E. Wisdom" dated 18 Sep 1856 in Leflore County, not Sunflower, MS. Saw their 1870 Census enumeration in Sunflower, so you would think that they would be in either Leflore or Sunflower in 1860 but I've not been able to locate them via an index, using lots of spelling variations. Finally found that there is no listing for either Sunflower or Leflore counties in the 1860 Mississippi Census! Perhaps those records were lost.
