I have my own McCann coming to NY from Sligo in 1847. His name was Owen. Records from the Emigrant savings bank (available on ancestry.com) tell me his mother and fathers name even though they were deceased at the time as well as his son and daughter who were living in NY and arrived after him. It also lists the ship and year he arrived in NY on. Since you're looking for a NY landing have you looked at the Castlegarden web site (www.castlegarden.org) which lists the people and ships that arrived in the port of NY during your stated time period? It was Ellis Island before there was Ellis Island. Good Luck. Bill Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
