My g-g-grandfather, James McCann, baptized 1829 in Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath was probably the son of Thomas McCann and Catherine Lynch. All of the Thomas/Catherine children were baptized there between 1819 and 1831. However, there is no record of marriage, baptisms, births, etc., for Thomas or Catherine. Both Co. Cavan and Co. Meath are an easy walking distance from their small plot of land in Castlepollard. My guess is that Thomas and Catherine were married outside Castlepollard because there are earlier marriage records than theirs (ca 1818) would have been at the Castlepollard church. And there are plenty of McCann records just across the county lines in both Cavan and Meath, just not Thomas's and Catherine's. Any help?
