A friend shared a death announcement for Mrs. Henry McCann who died 13 April 1898 in Menallen Twp., Adams Co., PA at about age 75, reported in the "New Oxford Item" 22 April 1898, page five. There was a Henry "McCantz" age 25 enumerated in 1850 Menallen, Adams, PA with a wife named Rachel age 29 with young children named: Jacob, George, Mary, Margret, and Henry. Was this McCantz family actually a McCann family mis-recorded by the Census enumerator or were they McCantz who changed their name to McCann?
