McCann Checchio, 85 of Millcreek and formerly of Pittsburgh and Conneautville, died Saturday June 19, 2010 at Pleasant Ridge Manor, Girard, Pa. She was born December 16, 1924 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late John and Margaret Colgan McCann. Marguerite was raised and educated in Pittsburgh, graduating from St. Rosellia High School. Following high school she went to work for the Continental Coffee Company where she met her future husband and life long friend, Rocco Checchio. The couple were married on January 15, 1949 in Pittsburgh. After a time working as a nurses aid, she became a full time home maker. As the family moved to new communities, she joined the local Catholic Churches, most recently belonging to St. Jude Catholic Church. She enjoyed old movies, collecting antiques and reading. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy McCann and Marie Ryan also by two brothers, James and Francis McCann. Marguerite will be grea! tly missed by her family which includes her husband, Rocco Checchio, her three sons, Ronald J. Checchio and his companion Holly Spusta of Millcreek, James R. Checchio of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Thomas M. Checchio and his wife Donna of Lake City; her grandchildren Roxann Shuster and her husband Nathan of Las Vegas, Nev., Gina N. Checchio and Ava E. Checchio, both of Lake City, as well as several nieces and nephews, including beloved niece, Dolly Scrock and her husband Mark. No services will be observed. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Erie. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Daniel R. Edder Funeral Home, Girard.
