McCann, b. 1808 in Ireland, came over sometime in the 1830's, and settled in Alabama, first Morgan County, then Talladega County. He married Lavina Stephenson in 1837 in Morgan County, and got a land grant in Talladega County in 1839. He apparently was not related to the other McCanns in that county, as they were from Tennessee, and he was an immigrant. I've wondered if he came over with a group of McCanns that settled in Louisiana at that time, but I can't find a connection. He had only 1 child, who in turn had only 1 child to live to adulthood, and the same for another generation. We're not a family tree, we're a pole! Does anyone know of connections he might have. Census records have his birthplace listed alternately as Ireland or Dublin. I can't find an immigration record that is definitely him.
