Variations are McCan, McCanse, Canse, Canna, Cana, Macan and a number of others. There is an excellent map showing populations of McCanns in Ireland thru the years. I tried to put a link in here but it wouldn't go so here is the web address. A pain to type but perhaps you can cut and paste. I think you'll find it most interesting.
