In the Ancestry.com Gene Pool there is now a Mary McCann who was married to a David BAY. They had a son named Hugh BAY who was listed as born in 1786 in Westmoreland Co., PA. A daughter, Jane BAY, was born in 1790, Westmoreland Co. and from there the family appears to have moved first to Bourbon Co., KY where James BAY was born and then on to Hamilton Co., OH where their other children: Thomas, Samuel and John were born. Does anyone know who this Mary McCann b. before 1772 was? Based on her age and the names of her children, she might have been Mary daughter of Thomas McCann b. 1743 Ireland and Jane STEWART who died in 1784. Thomas appears on tax lists in Harrison Co., [W]VA in 1785 and had remarried by 1795. However, he apparently settled in Harrison County as early as 1775 given the following land records: Thomas McCANN, 300 acres on Davisson's Run, adjoining the land of Thomas BERKELY, to include his settlement made in 1775 and Thomas McCANN, 1000 acres adjoining his settlement made in 1775.
