    3. I've got a bit more information from my aunt about our McCanns. Harry Allerd McCann(my grandfather) 2/26/1913-9/23/1995 Wife: Virginia Emvella Brown Married: 10/16/1937 Born in or about Howland, Maine Siblings: Maurice (m) David Jr.(m) Cemetery: Children: Sally, Betty, Blandine, Geneva, Margaret, Etta David Edward McCann Sr. (my great grandfather) 6/15/1878-1955 or 56 Wife: Etta May Carey Married: 7/15, 1909 (not positive) Born in Harvey, New Brunswick Siblings: Cemetery: LaGrange, Maine Children: Maurice, Harry, David Bernard McCann (my great-great grandfather) 6/15/1878-7/15/1912 Wife: Agnes Lister Married: Born in New Brunswick (at or near Harvey) Siblings: Cemetery: Harvey Settlement Cemetery, New Brunswick Children: Right now we are searching, trying to find the correct Bernard McCann. It is thought that Bernard McCann came over from Ireland during the potato famine. Great Grampa McCann used to call Bernard, "Old Barney" and used to say, "Old Barney came straight from Ireland." "Old Barney" was catholic, yet his son David was Baptist. my grandmother's explanation for this was that as far as David McCann was concerned, whatever his father was (Catholic) he didn't want to be. So he became Baptist. We take this to mean that "Old Barney" must have been a difficult man. :) My aunt thinks there may also have been a Donald McCann who was related and who moved toCalifornia, but she is relying only on memory. If so, this Donald McCann would likely have been from Harvey, New Brunswick. That's all we have for sure right now. Does any of this sound familiar, or help anyone? Nancy Simpson
