Well, not exactly. My mother's maiden name is a McCann. I thought it would be interesting to see if I could trace the family back a few generations. I'm afraid I don't know much right now, as I'm really just beggining to search. My grandfather's name was Harry Allerd McCann (2/26/1913-9/23/1995). He had a brother, David McCann. Their mother's name was Etta. I'll have to check with my mother to see how much she can add to that very limited information. Grampa Harry married Virginia (Boofie) Brown (October 16, 1937) and they had 6 girls, no boys. So the name "McCann" has reached an end here, unfortunately.. My gandparents lived in Howland Maine for most of their married life. Before they were married they both lived locally. It's been rumored or generally assumed that my McCanns came to Maine from New Brunswick, but I can't say that with any certainty. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who might be a Maine McCann, or has any information about them. I think this is cool, addressing a whole group of McCanns who just might be relatives. :) I'm sure I'll have a bit more information about my grandfather's family in a few days. Nancy Simpson
