Hi, Don, Yes, I did suggest that your William b. 1781-1785 PA was a descendant of Laurence. There is a possibility that William's father was a James. I've noted the following information on McCanns from the same township in Greene Co. I never thought of it this way but maybe William is James' son. This James was born in 1759 according to his Rev. War pension records in National Archives. James moved to Ohio to live near his son Thomas ( He was the only McCann in the area according to 1820-1830 census records other than James) in Guernsey now Noble Co., Ohio which would have been closer than travelling to IN. James' name was misspelled in the Guernsey Co. History as Jones and I've found DAR references to this mistake. This does make sense. Are there any court documents or local histories in IN that may give a clue? After all I do owe Don for the info on my James and other records which helped me get farther in research. I'm now working with a wonderful lady in Iowa who is helping me there and I'm helping her with her research here. Maybe there would be someone in Iowa who needs info where you are Don. Please contact me for info updates Don on Thomas McCann if you'd like or anyone else who may have a connection.
