    2. Janet: This is incredible information. My records are all in a box since my move and I've been working almost 7 days a week getting ready (hopefully) to retire in about 1 1/2 years. I've promised myself that my winter reprieve will be to get back into my genealogy. It will take awhile to get it together again and refresh my memory. Maybe; somewhere in all of that paperwork, is something that will connect. Off the top of my head I don't know that I can think of anything I've got that connects ... yet. That means nothing. As you know; connections can take years to make and happen in the twinkling of an eye. I have stored your email and contact info. Thanks so very much. Lynn

Hopefully I am getting closer to getting all the stuff out of the box and doing some research again. I met Uncle Jessie when I was very young and remember him believe it or not. I can't remember what happened yesterday lol. He was my grandmother's brother. My g-ma was Lola or Aunt Lo as you will hear her referred to. The brick wall I've spent many years trying to get through is Martin McCann. He was Algerine's father - AG was father to Jessie, Lo, etc. I am convinced Martin must have been his middle name. I have not been able to absolutely confirm this but I believe Martin's mom was Anna and I believe he was orphaned. If you run across anything just let me know and I'll do the same. 3. What I know is my great-grandfather’s (Michael Flynn) mother was Mary McCann (father also named Michael Flynn), according to his death certificate. Michael was born on April 1, 1843, in Co. Mayo, Ireland. He immigrated to Jersey Co., IL, before he was 18 years old. In Jersey Co. IL, he mar. Mary Mahan, also born in Co. Mayo, Ireland. Michael died Jan 23, 1925 in Jersey Co., IL. Michael was a devout Catholic and I know he was baptized in Ireland. I contacted the genealogists at the Co. Mayo Family History Centre and asked them to to search for any info. on Michael Flynn (Sr. & Jr.) and Mary McCann. They could not find any record of Michael Jr.’s baptism or Michael Sr. & Mary McCann’s marriage. They explained that because he was born during the potato famine (1843) that priests were so overwhelmed with all the deaths that occurred (Co. Mayo lost 50 percent of its population to death and immigration during the famine) that a lot of baptisms and marriages never made it into the church books. They did provide a list of parishes in which they found both Flynn & McCann records. I went to the National Archives in Dublin and searched every record in every book from these parishes and could find nothing. Another family name is Talty and I did find a Mary McCann standing up at the marriage of a Talty. However, the Talty family is almost exclusively a Co. Clare family, not Co. Mayo. Thus, I am stuck. Janet Flynn

Thanks for suggesting we view your wepage for more information on William b.c. 1781-1785. Have had a recent minor "breakthrough" vis a vis the McCanns. A Rhodes researcher and I (also with Rhodes ancestors) bumped into one another, and when she spotted McCann in my name asked if I was related to the McCanns of sw PA. It appears that she descends from David, Jr. son of David, son of James. Her family history has some recorded oral history as an ancestor took down notes from his Mother, Orpha Ann McCann Wroe 1818-1906, apparently late in her life. Her existence was news! Orpha's Obit mentions two living sisters, Mary Ann McCann 1821-1908 who m. George Debolt. and Elizabeth Jane McCann 1828- after 1906 who m. Joseph Houlsworth -- news. I have had those two McCanns as daughters of David and Nancy ___. Another more recent, but unknown family member was looking for a James McCann who fought in the Rev. War as she had apparently learned that Orpha descended from that man, who was reportedly born in Cork, Ireland! More news! Orpha had reported that there were Kings in her family. There is a Monongalia county marriage record for a David McCann and a Nancy King dated 27 Nov 1817 (before Preston was created out of Monongalia) which someone had thought was in error and should read, "John son of David." Looks like that assumption was likely wrong, that it was really David Jr. who m. Nancy King not his brother John. It appears that David McCann's wife, Nancy King, died between 1830-1831. David, Jr. married second Sarah A. Morris before 1840. Sarah's maiden name is news. David, Jr. migrated to Jackson twp., Greene, IN after 1852 when he was still on a German twp., Fayette tax list recorded as "old laborer." Best regards, Jane
