Did your Arthur start out in Lanark County (Ontario) before heading to N.D.? Several McCanns of this area went to North Dakota. My Arthur had siblings in this area. I'll check the census for his wife's name. Also, I have a letter of 1838 where John McCann of Ireland refers to his brother, Arthur. I hope to hear from you. meanwhile, I'll figure out my Arthur's age.

Hi McCann listers, My grandmother, Margaret (Maggie) McCANN was born in New York City 9 November 1861 the daughter of William McCANN, born New York, and Mary E. MONROE, a native of Ireland. No data on any siblings. Maggie married Henry J. STAFFORD, an attorney, justice of the piece and San Francisco County Supervisor in S.F. on 7 September 1886. The couple had four sons, Harry, William, Clarence and Walter all born in S.F. Maggie died 10 October 1936 and is buried in Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma. I don't know when her family came from NYC to S.F. or anything about her parents or siblings, if any. Unfortunately, I know nothing of any present day McCANNs in or near San Francisco.. Any help, connections or suggestions happily welcomed! Harry Stafford
