Hi, Folks, On another list today, someone shared a url for a site which has lots of Ohio histories. If you go here: http://www.picosearch.com/cgi-bin/ts.pl and simply enter "McCann" in the first box and click on "Search" you'll find 20 McCann incidences of the name. For example, among the first members of the M.E. Church of Pleasant Twp., Hardin Co., OH, which was organized in 1838-1839, were John McCann and his wife. Too bad they didn't give her name, but maybe it was simply written that way in the records. Best regards, Jane new email address: [email protected] old email address: [email protected]
Bonnie: I misread the E-Mail, They will look up Catholic records if the family come from Armagh, My Great Grand Mother Margaret McCann was born there , so we're assuming that Peter did also. When they asked for the money in advance and my mailing address, I thought they had found the records, but they will just start looking for them, Ann T. I was so excited when I got the message from Armagh, I didn't read the message clearly, When they asked for the money and my mailing address, and listed all the names, of my family born in Ireland, I thought they had found the records, In re-reading the message, they are just going to search for them. So I don't know for sure just where my McCann Family comes from. I hope I keep hearing from anyone that thinks that they relate, You can't believe all that you find on the census, they are hard to read, and I think sometimes that the mothers had so many children, they don't know where they were born. Or exactly how old they are. I'll just have to keep searching. Ann T. Meyer (Nee Ann McCann)
To those interested in James McCann The Farm in Juneau County between Elroy and Mauston in Plymouth ,Wisconsin was first bought by Stephen McCAnn from the Government, The next deed I find is between Stephen, Town of Gordon, State of Kansas to James McCann of Wisconsin. This could not be the same James that came over on the Garrick in 1853, These might be brothers of my Great Grand Father Peter McCann. This farm went between the family of McCanns until it was finally sold, Peter McCann came over to the USA as an indentured Alien to earn enough money to send for his family,Most likely in 1850. So I hope all the McCanns, that are looking for James don't give up. If the James McCann that came over on the Garrick is the correct age, we lost him before the 1870 census. Really don't know exactly where he came from in Ireland, Just that he married a lady named Mary, who is listed on one of the final records of the farm Ann T. Meyer (Nee Ann McCann)
Hello I am new to this list but an old hand at geno I am looking for the family of William Thomas Brandon McCann They lived in Northumberland, I think of the huge movement there from Scotland. I am presuming the family came from Ireland origionally. Any hopes out there. I just had a message from Armagh that they had found the records that I have been looking for: The marriage record for Peter and Margaret McCann The following children, Patrick James Jane Michael Thomas Ann These were all born in Ireland. These copies should give me a lot of info, such as to the maiden name of Margaret etc, These are Catholic records, that is why she found them. Jane must have died in Mass, as she doesn't appear in the 1860 census.
Bernie: I've run across the Bridget Daugherty before, I just heard from Ireland. My Ancestors came from Armagh; They might have moved to County Cork, but I have the Baptism records and the record of the Marriage of my Great Grand Parents coming from there, Maybe it is just the Catholic records, Will have to wait and see, That will tell me a great deal. Hope that we do relate, Will let you know as soon as I get the records. Jerry: Do you relate to this family? This is my family, I have the records up until the farm was deeded to them, The other half was deeded to his brother. They no sooner had the farm, then they sold it, I have been looking for the family of James. My grandfather, John Charles McCann, born in Wisconsin was a brother to this James McCann. Will be anxious to hear from you, I didn't know which Mary, James had married, In fact after the 1870 census, we lost the older children. The census had James born in Mass, When the ship that they came over on stated a Jane, but we didn't have a Jane, So they made a mistake and it was James.
