I am descended from Martin McCann through his son James C. McCann. James C. McCann was in Randolph County, Georgia, on the 1870 census and was on the Leake County, Mississippi, for 1880. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, August 02, 2002 7:46 AM Subject: [McCANN] Re: McCanns in glasgow Scotland > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Prince McCann Leggett Sheffield Allen > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/QOz.2ACEB/689.1.2.2 > > Message Board Post: > > Hello. I think it was a publishing company. It didn't reference any dates but my guess would be 1930 ish. If you could get more info on the McCann person in the company name maybe there would be a connection.

My grandfather had a brother named James, but he was older than my grandfather (who was born in 1902) so my James would have been born in the late 1800's. However, my great grandfather (Patrick) was originally from Ireland married to an Elizabeth Gilmour (unsure of spelling) and Patrick McCann and Elizabeth moved to Glasgow. Patrick also had brothers so it may be possible that one of Patrick's brothers had a son named James in 1910. But I don't know any of my grandfathers cousins names. Am pretty sure we are from Armargh there are a lot of McCann's there. Wonder if maybe we are distant cousins. If you have any other info or any of this rings a bell, drop me a line. Always nice to hear from another McCann!
