Author: suepam70 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.mccann/1036.2.2.1.2.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Joni, I am sorry to report that Eve McCann has passed away. She lived in Oregon and I live in Nevada. She passedin 2006 and I do not have any of her DNA info except that her husband Donald McCann's DNA had a perfect match with a Murray in Canada? I dont know where to go from here. We have never found where Horatio Judd McCann came from, or who he came from. He was married to my Great Grand mother Lydian Groseclose McCann. He froze to death in a blizzard in Laramie Wyoming when he was 27. No information has ever been discovered of his origin. My Grandfather always mentioned his father had jet black hair and dark black eyes. That's it! If you can be of any help I would surely appreciate it. I am sorry to hear of the loss of a fellow researcher. I am a firm believer in the Native American blood. I have seen pictures of some of my ancesters out of Anne McCann. No doubt in my mind of lineage.Anne was married to Samuel Milam. Is this couple close to your line? Sue Pam McCanns being Irish, have a greater similarity with other Irishmen, because the Island forced many line convergences, and name alterations. Ireland adopted surnames relatively recently so there may be MANY surnames which share common male line ancestry from before the convention was adopted universally. In over ten years of waiting for "my" 67 marker match through FTDNA, I still don't match anyone closer than -4, and NO exact matches at 33 markers either. There may be some testers in other services who are near identical matches, but I haven't found them yet. They keep asking if I want to expand to 111 markers, and I said if I can't match at 33, why should I expand to 111? I am 'close' to many Irish names but primarily McCann, McCain, Keane, O'Kane etc. It doesn't help that my father was born out of wedlock to a known McCann, or that he had only daughters and his brothers died with only female children or childless. I would compare your known DNA data to the Ulster Heritage Project database. It may connect you to the testers closest to your dna lot. Jeff Scism

The Mack McCann in my family was a Mathew McCann who apparent was born in Northern Ireland and went to Glasgow Scotland, where his son James was born. James came to the USA and was a shirt maker, in Troy NY and North Adams, Mass, as well as Missouri (1861) and Ontario, Canada, (1865). Yes i have noticed there are a lot of McCanns, even when i do come accross McCanns in Lanarkshire in late 1800 and early 1900 it seems that there was more than just 1 set of McCanns living there. Its really hard as the trees which seem to have my relations on are all private trees and im getting nowhere with people replying to my personal messages! There are lots of McCann's as you probably found out..if you can get more information, i would check with Church of Latter Day Saints as they have quite alot of genealogy information.sorry i couldn't be of more help! Good luck with your research. You may also want to check with any churches that your grandparents may have been associated with in Wishaw /Lanarkshire--you may find birth/marriage/death records thru them.
