    1. [MCBEE-L] Joel Magby AR 1850-18??
    2. I am looking for information on the family of Joel Magby first seen in Pike Co., AR in the 1850 census as the son of Robert and Polly Magby of Walker Co., AL. In the Pike Co.1860 census Joel has married Emily Tull and they have several children including a son with the initials G.M. I cannot find these Magbys in the 1870 census in Pike County or in Scott Co., AR where Emily appears as a widow in 1880. Emily is not living with any of the Scott Co. Tulls in the 1870 census nor with her sister Nancy Tull Magby, a civil war widow. In the 1880 Scott Co. Census there is Robin Magby, a son of Joel and Emily, and a Marion Magby married to Annie with no children. This Marion is the same age as G.M. Magby but says he was b. in TN where G.M. in 1860 was b. AR. In 1888 a record has G.M. Magby as a bondsman for a custody case. In the 1890 reconstructed census of Scott Co., there is a G. M. Magby. I believe G. M. Magby could be General Marion Magby, my husband's gr.grandfather b. 1856 AR; d. 1941 OK. He married a woman named Fannie (Hughes, Haynes, Hayes) and had a child Kathryn (Kate) b. 1886. Kate 1. m. Stephen Alexander Porter and 2 m. McKinley Bailey. They moved to Indian Territory or OK (not sure of the year). Does anyone have information on the Joel or G. M. Magby families ? Does anyone know what the intitials G. M. stand for or where these Magbys were during 1870 ? I do not know too much about this family but what I have, I will share. Cathey Jendeski [email protected]
