Hi Bonnie: I do not think that our Thomas McBee is related to Murthough McBee. Here are the facts. Fact 1. Thomas Mcaboy m. Rachel Rilet 21 Feb. 1797 in Frederick Co, MD: wit: Wm. Mcaboy & Ed. Rilet. [Therefore William McBee has to be a relative.] Fact 2. There is a Thomas Mockaboy 1800, T. McBee 1810 Frederick Co. MD. census. Fact 3. There is a Thomas McBee 1800 tax list, Thos. McBee 1810 census Berkeley Co., VA. [In other words, there is more than one Thomas McBee in this area.] Fact 4. There is no William McBee in Frederick Co. MD lists, but there is a William McBee in the 1800 tax list for Berkeley Co. VA. William McAboy d. in 1813 and there is an estate administration for him. Frederick Co. DB WR 33:190, 1808 William Macbee of Berkeley Co., Va. to Daniel James of Frederick Co., Md. proves that he is the grandson of Peter Becraft and inherited the land from his grandfather per his will. Now if Peter Becraft would have only named his grandson Thomas in his will. But possibly Thomas is younger than I thought and was born in 1779 after the will of Peter Becraft was written. I have the will. Fact 5. Our Thomas McBee named his first son William. He named his first dau Nancy and I think that Nancy Macby, widow, who m. Georg McDonald 19 Sept. 1780 in Frederick Co, Md could be his mother. [But widow of whom? Where did George McDonald go?] Fact 6. Alexander McAboy witnessed the will of William Boyd of Frederick Co, VA in 1771. Berkeley Co WB 1:84-86. Mathew McAboy wit. the will of John Dalrymple of Berkeley Co in 1777. I ALWAYS look under ALL related SPELLINGS. I have found my ancestors also listed as MCBEE, MCAVOY, MCABOY, MCBOY, MACABEE. ETC. So we are probably all connected somewhere even though we spell the surname differently.
