I put a note in recently asking if anyone knew the whereabouts of Brockland in Scotland inre: George F. Black's book, Surnames of Scotland, stated: Callome McBee and Donald McBee in Brockland were fined for reset of outlawed Macgregors, 1613 (RPC.,xiv, p.640) After consulting with the University of Edinburgh, Scottish Studies, I received a reply: "I think what you are searching for is Brackland in Menteith, two miles east of the town of Callander... the Register of the Great Seal for 1618, spells this two ways- Brokland and Brakland, while in 1611, the RGS has 'the 10 merkland of old extent of Brakland'. This is described as being in the 'barony of Doun' (Doune), so it is likely to have been an important hill-farm." This area is about 15 miles NW of Sterling or about 50 miles N of Glasgow, in the Trossach hills, the old stomping grounds of Rob Roy (Robert Macgregor). Just thought all the McBees might be interested. Maybe a few are still around there. John McBee
