I thought the entire list should see this. I don't know why certain men were listed more than once, but it was pretty obvious in a few cases that it WAS the same man, with slightly different information. I've decided that I'm going to either rent films I need from the General Index to Pension Files (T288), or visit the archives and get the rest of the information on these fellows, and put them up on a webpage. I can list people as contacts, like we did for the marriages and deaths. We'll get it all together one of these days! Born 16 Jan 1844 Dade Co., GA, died 1868 (as far as I know). > Silas B McBee - Residence: Dade County, Georgia > Service Record: Enlisted as a Private on 4 March 1862 > Silas B McBee - Residence: Dade County, Georgia > Service Record: Enlisted as a Private on 17 July 1861 These are the same man, and my great-great grandpa. Silas Benton was the son of Elder Samuel MCBEE. He was born 15 Feb 1842 Marion Co., TN, died about 1908 in Roff, OK, buried in Scullin Cemetery, Murray Co., OK. Married 29 Mar 1866 in Gordon Co., GA to Mary C. ALTON. From about 1880 to about 1904, this family lived in Yell Co., AR. > William McBee - Residence: Dade County, Georgia. - Another brother to Silas Benton MCBEE. He was born 24 Jan 1846, Dade Co., GA, died 18 Oct 1872 in Dade Co., GA. Married 22 Feb 1867 to Sarah R. SEAY. > Isham McBee - Service Record: > Enlisted as a Private on 15 September 1862 in Marion County, TN I'm guessing this is the son of Josiah W. MCBEE who resided in Marion Co. TN and Dade Co., GA. Isham was born about 1829 in TN; his father was an attorney in Dade Co., GA who died there about 1850 of measles. I know that most of Josiah's children stayed in TN, rather than in GA. Hope this helps someone. Karen Groce wgroce@netdoor.com
