There is and additional black church Vardry gave land to. I can not remember its name but it is on some type of national registry for the preservation of older buildings. This is good. Additional information is being spread about Vardry. As I said before, he was not a bad man. He encouraged education, a philanthropist, etc. He also had such strong lungs that he could holler messages from his front porch to his workers running errands for him downtown Greenville. My grandmother also had those lungs. The first minister of the church was Gabriel Pool, a former slave who had belonged to the Cleveland family.
